OZ Collection

"The collection, created for the home of an ipothetical wizard, opens with a tribute to Nikola Tesla (who is he??) and all those human beings who loose themselves in a visionary thought or in ecstasy generated by the invention of and interaction with new objects.
I introduce new lamps, tables, and mirrors, fit for new horizons of science, designed from within and in the intimacy of industrial procedures, practical and technologically correct, to tame them and bring them in a domestic space as a fairy tale decoration."

These are the introductory words of Denis Santachiara from his "OZ Collection" presented during the occasion of the Salone del Mobile 2002.

Three projects:

  • "MISTER SUPER KELVIN" table, "MISTER KELVIN SQUARE" table, "MISTER KELVIN ROUND": series of tables made out of a "blown" steel refrigerating slab capable to create the possibility of warming or cooling the top surface.
  • Café Table with holes: this project is still in the development phase consisting of tables dismontable. For assembly, no screws are required as the structure is held together by a system of slot and groove. The café tables compose of:
    - N.2 structures of stainless steel wire
    - N.1 metal cross support
    - N.1 top surface in plastic material
  • Transformer "TESLA": it's about "magic" that exploits the properties of the transformer og high frequency wave generator invented by Nikola Tesla. By this device of the transformer creates the capability of lighting fluorescent tube lamps from a distance, freeing them of need for electricity.
The photos below presents the application Denis Santachiara created:
    - neon lamps lit leaning against wall
    - glass pitcher filled with fluorescent tubes
    - bouquet of LEDs
    - cake shaped fluorescent lamp
Each one of the above rests on top over a ceramic column.
