"It
seems to me that the constantly increasing information flow produces,
instead of a unitary culture, a reality marked by a myriad of co-existing
fragments. These fragments carry along different stories: smells, tastes
and colours from worlds that once were far apart and now, in essence,
quite close.
Sergio Mannino

Sergio
Mannino creates a design that finds its own force in the aesthetic
features of his production. In this way his objects immediately become
the protagonists of the scene where they are placed. A charming tale that
develops through nine elements taken from the collection "100 Storie".
The
basic module, the same in all series, is a 185 x 75 cms parallelepiped.
The material of the basic module is lacquered wood, on which different
elements have been inserted: neon lights, coloured bulb lamps, wood, fabrics,
plastic laminates, metals, digital images, inlays, etc. The pastel tonality
of these pieces of furniture suggests a concept of living that strives
for serenity and tranquillity in the domestic space: light blue, pink,
white, beige, sea green ... are, according to the designer, the most appropriate
colours for the house at the beginning of this millennium.
Special
thanks to Ettore Sottsass who has helped with advices and suggestions
to create this exhibition.
